The Essie Lee Bell - Let Your Light Shine Award

Established in 2015 in honor of Essie L. Bell one of the founding members and visionary leaders of the Heath, Pittman, and Smith (HPS) Family Reunion.  She remained steadfast in her dedication to the HPS Family Reunion until her death in February 2019 at the age of 96 years young. Her faith, and her commitment to the Lord always aligned with her actions as illustrated in her favorite hymn “This Little Light of Mine”. 

Award Information

  

This esteemed HPS award will honor one (1) family member, annually at the Saturday HPS Reunion Banquet, for their unwavering contributions and overall dedication to primarily the HPS Family Reunion.  Highlights of the honorees’ outstanding faith-based (church), professional, and/or community achievements will also be shared.  Each honoree will receive a “Let Your Light Shine” HPS crystal signature plaque and a $50 gift card.

Nomination Process

  1. Beginning in 2018, nominations will be accepted from any member of the HPS family by May 30th each year - submitted via website to HPS governing body
  2. Nominations should be accompanied by a write-up (300 minimum - 500 maximum words) on how the nominee “Let Your Light Shine” with an emphasis on HPS Family Reunion contributions but inclusive of church, community, or professional accolades
  3. The HPS governing body will review all nominations and vote on a single honoree
  4. The Award recipient will be announced and revealed at the Saturday HPS Banquet
